The Furniture Ferry began on Vancouver Island after Benjamin Faced his father’s passing and a house full of belongings. From difficult times, rose new possibilities.

An old trailer they had planned to fix together, had sat unused for years. An unfinished project now waiting solely on Benjamin to finish its restoration.

After the restoration, wanting it to have a purpose, he asked his neighbors if they had any need of a dump run. Five houses from his cul-de-sac quickly filled it up. One simple act, revealed a much larger community need.

Driving past discarded furniture on the roadside, Benjamin realized many people struggle with disposal. He posted online offering help — and the responses poured in. Within weeks, his evenings and weekends were booked solid. 

A client, appreciative of the service, encouraged him to start a real business. So he started a community poll to choose the name! The winning entry?

“Throwy McThrow-a-way’s Furniture Ferry”

Each job represents a life transition — whether moving, donating, or letting go. The trailer built together with his father never came to be, but it inspired something much greater. 

Today, The Furniture Ferry exists to help people with care, speed, and heart. We are happy to be serving the island and grateful to all of you!
